Are You Comfortable in Your Own Skin?

Are You Comfortable in Your Own Skin?

Being comfortable in your own skin means you have a certain degree of confidence in yourself and your abilities. And that belief plays a crucial role in the development of self-love.

Being satisfied with the way you look is important. But do you know what else is equally important? Being comfortable in your own skin. Loving yourself right where you are in this moment is EMPOWERING and life-changing. But it is not always easy. So how do you get there?

Being comfortable in your own skin doesn’t mean that you are complacent with yourself or your place in life. It doesn’t mean that nothing about you needs change or improve. What it does mean is that you have a certain degree of confidence in yourself and your abilities. And that belief plays a crucial role in the development of self-love. When you feel good about yourself, you stand taller, look better and act accordingly. And that confidence shows in your actions, personal demeanor and interactions with others.

Learning to love who you are means a certain degree of acceptance of your flaws and your weaknesses. It’s OK to embrace your imperfections. Those characteristics are what make you uniquely you. If everyone was perfect then the world would be incredibly monotone and BORING!

Be kind and stop comparing yourself to the unrealistic beauty standards set by society. Social media brings out the worst of these unhealthy comparisons. But so much of what we see on social media is an illusion. So find the best parts of you and show them off without thought to how they rate next to someone else. Flaunting what you have and feeling proud of yourself is very important. Break away from the shackles of unrealistic beauty standards and appreciate what you offer to the world.

Simple Steps to Becoming Comfortable in Your Own Skin:

  • Build Your Own Self Worth
  • Stop Seeking Validation from Others
  • Honor the Body You Have
  • Maintain a Positive Spirit
  • Surround Yourself with Positive People
  • Tune Out Media Ideals
  • Practice Gratitude

Once you decide to be comfortable in your own skin and accept yourself, stick with it. Try telling yourself two things every morning: 1) I am enough.  2) I am not everyone’s cup of tea and I’m OK with that.

Make a promise to stay true to yourself. The more you choose to do you and be you, the easier it will get. Soon enough being comfortable in your own skin will feel natural. Being you will be enough. And it should be because you are MORE than enough.

With 2022 in the rearview mirror and a bright New Year ahead, bring on the resolutions! And make them the ones you can keep up throughout the year! 2023 is the perfect time to start caring for yourself in a new and meaningful way.  As you plan your fresh start, please keep us in mind for helping create the new you.

Establishing and maintaining a skincare regimen is a great goal to set for yourself this year. Proper skin care is important because our skin is the largest organ and therefore the largest barrier against infection that we have. Keeping our skin healthy and moist makes this barrier strong. A daily skincare routine can protect skin from sun damage, prevent occasional outbreaks and keep us looking bright and refreshed. Our skin is one of the first things other people see, so making sure it’s in tiptop shape builds self-confidence as well. To begin your skincare journey, book a consultation with one of our estheticians. We can tell you the type of facial that will be most beneficial and recommend products that will maintain the results you get at the spa. Throughout the month of January, we are offering an upgrade on any facial you purchase. Buy a facial and receive an automatic upgrade to the next, more expensive facial on the menu.

Also during January, we will be running our $99 Lash Special. What’s the quickest way to a new look? Lash extensions! If you have ever considered lash extensions, now is the perfect time to get them done. You will love the drama and depth they add to your eyes and will appreciate the time saved daily by not having to apply mascara in the morning. It’s a win-win situation. Save money and get those long, lush lashes!

A lot of resolutions fall by the wayside after about a month. But the skincare and lash resolutions are ones you will want to keep throughout the year! Call today to get on the books for 2023! New Year, New You-let’s go!

Don’t Just Say Grace During the Holidays: Give It as Well

Don’t Just Say Grace During the Holidays: Give It as Well

Giving grace is going out of our way to give compassion, kindness and love to someone even if they might not appreciate it, or return the favor.

IV Infusion Therapy

This time of year, we all gather around the table with our family and friends. And usually right before we partake of a glorious meal, we all grab hands, bow our heads and say grace. We give thanks for all the blessings that have come our way throughout the year. It’s an important tradition in so many households. And we should always say grace, but we should be willing to give grace as well. Not just during the holiday season, but throughout the entire year.

What does it mean to give grace? We’ve heard the phrase used a hundred times but often struggle to define it. It can often refer to something itty bitty, something that doesn’t require much other than a small favor. Other times, it can call for a huge act of forgiveness. Giving grace is a free pass for someone’s poor behavior or misspoken words. It’s difficult sometimes because we may not always feel the other person is deserving.

But we never fully understand someone else’s situation. We only know what they show us and that is rarely everything. Old hurts hide in dark places and pain runs deep. When people lash out or say unkind things, it is not a reflection on us. It is a mirror held up to the anguish they are feeling in the moment. How we respond in kind is our own mirror. What kind of reflection do you want to see staring back at you?

Giving grace is going out of our way to give compassion, kindness and love to someone even if they might not appreciate it, or return the favor. In the grand scheme of things, it is choosing to act positively towards someone who might even hate the sight of us, or have done wrong to us in the past. We don’t give grace for the sake of others. We give grace for sake of ourselves because we never know when we will need to be on the receiving end of that same grace.

As we go about our business for the remainder of the season, let’s all remember to not just say grace during the holidays, but to sprinkle it over those we encounter as well. Give the gift of grace. You’ll never regret it.
